The Women's Institute for Freedom of the Press (WIFP) publishes an online Directory of Women's Media that is available on this website with no charge to access and no sign up necessary. We also publish an annual print version that is available for purchase.
WIFP began publishing the Directory of Women's Media in 1975. We published in print form annually for fifteen years (1975-1989) and resumed again in 2002. Our online version went up in 2001. This is updated on an on-going basis therefore it is never too late to send us information. Some entries are also highlighted on the women's media page of our website.
The Directory of Women's Media is made up of women-owned media, by, about, and primarily for women. It does not include the male-owned magazines for women but does include academic periodicals that are put together by women.
If you'd like your women's media included, please send us information. The following forms are available for your convenience in supplying us with entry information but forms are not necessary. One form is for women's periodicals and the other is for women's media organizations. Women's publishers and other media groups can modify these forms. The information can be emailed to us or sent by regular mail. Keep us in mind whenever you change your address or any of the information in your entry. Thanks!
